Just a little Off.

November 14, 2016
Today was weird.  I don’t know how to explain it. It was a normal p-day, but I felt super weird about it and I have no idea why.  I am not sure.  We went to go and play basketball with a member and I am just awful at it.  I am somehow way out of shape as well. My comp however, just loves basketball and is super competitive about it.  So that was fun.  We went and bought food afterwards and holy cow, the pasta here is cheap.  2 pesos for a pretty good package of pasta.  I got a bunch so I should be set for a few weeks.  We also got hair cuts, wrote home, made some weird contacts, taught a weird lesson, and that was the weird day. I suppose it was a really normal day, but I just felt weird about the whole thing. Hopefully, tomorrow with be a better day.

Its been a little bit different since the election I have to say, everyone wants to ask me about Trump. Some Mexicans really like Trump for some reason, I have no idea why. But I’m getting a little tired of every member talking to me about him. Some call me and my companion hijos de Trump. My comp is actually a Trump fan, well I should say a Hillary hater. I don’t think he actually likes him. It’s okay though, they hate their president too. Everyone calls him not good things, burro being the nicest of them.

No the to say much about today.  It was normal, maybe a little better than usual.  I got to play a guitar and that was cool I guess.  We contacted this super weird guy with an extremely long braid.  He told us that  he was a “secular” minister whatever that means.

Lots of walking today, but that is normal by now.  It was cooler today so it wasn’t too hard.  We met a less active member today and he started telling us about how he could see the difference in his life and in his family since they stopped going to church. He wants to make some changes, so it will be interesting working with him to help him feel the Spirit again.  Other than that, we jus made a ton of contacts.  We need new people to teach.  We are just sitting here right now eating pasta, cereal, and tamales.  This is the life!  We are so tired, but we love Mexico! (At least the FOOD!)

Nothing much happened today to be honest.  We found this jar of hair gel that an elder left, so we decided to try it.  I have never used hair gel before.  Long story short, it was NOT gel, but actually some sort of cold medicine. …That was fun.
We had a cool lesson with a less active member who gave us a huge piece of chocolate bread. Then we baked our peanut butter cookies for a family night activity.  The cookies were a highlight of the day.

It has just been a crappy week for work. I am not sure what we are dong wrong. A family, a whole family, dropped us today.  They are too content wit their Catholic traditions.  We had a good lesson with a less active member today.  He is a young man with lots of potential and he says that he wants to serve a mission one day.

Okay, so I have realized that there are just going to be days that are bad days and that there are weeks that are going to be bad weeks in the mission.  We have planned and planned our days and weeks lately, but all of our plans and our backup plans have failed lately.  Today was better than most.  We went to a baptism of a kid in the branch and we were able to participate in the confirmation, which is the first time that I have done that!  Super cool.  His brother baptized him.  There is always a great spirit at baptisms.  I am hopeful that one of our investigators will be baptized in a couple of weeks.

Well, out of 6 lessons planned for today, we only ended up teaching 2, and our investigator told us that she doesn’t feel ready for baptism.  She has been taking the lessons for about 18 months already, but it is good that she is understanding the importance of the covenant.  We are going to try to visit her more this week to help her but that is super hard because we have to find another man to go with us to teach her, and her schedule is very hard to accommodate.
I am ready for p-day, although tomorrow includes our interviews with the President.

Random bad street art.
