Just working

December 12, 2017
P-days just go by so darn fast.  We went to the chapel to play some basketball with a youth and some young adults but we waited and waited and no one showed up.  We called people to find out if they were coming and they were either still asleep (around 12) or they couldn’t come.  So that was a waste of time.  We hot hair cuts and went to eat with a member.  They just had barely started to cook when we arrived which is fine because we got to help, and that was at least something to for us to do. It was amazing food, some of the best fish that I have ever had, though we did only get an hour to write our emails because the lunch went late. Then we got to go and share the gospel with the whole world because we finally had a member with us, a super cool new convert actually.  He has a really strong testimony. Still we got rejected buy pretty much everyone except for on guy.  It was a pretty standard day.

Slow day today.  We had District Class but later the whole zone was there so we had to stay later to practice our dang Christmas dance thing.  It took so much time so we got to lunch super late and probably we stayed there longer than we should have.  Then the member cancelled going out with us soooooo, lots of walking and not much work happened.  Tomorrow we have some good plans so we will see if any of then turn out.

Hoy fue uno la verdad.  We didn’t really have a firm plan for this morning except contacting but we ended up painting someone’s house.  Service projects don’t really exist unless the missionaries organize them.  The members are willing and they will work hard, there is just not a lot of organization.  Then we had a member, or rather multiple members help us with the rest of our day.  We actually went on divisions.  Unfortunately they weren’t super productive.  I taught these two referrals about the Book of Mormon but didn’t have time to teach anything else.  It was weird teaching with only one missionary.  I don’t think I taught super well, it was pretty disorganized.  We’ll see, their are going on vacation until the New Year, so I couldn’t set up a return appointment.  We met up to go teach I. because we need 3 men present to teach her.  Unfortunately, she wasn’t there and that is super hard because she has a baptismal date for next week.  Oh well, we will keep on trying.

Today we were supposed to have divisions again, but both members cancelled on us.  Luckily we got a kid who is preparing to serve a mission to go out with use  He is called to serve in Brazil.  So now it seems that we need to schedule out 3 members in order to count on having at least one. When plans fall through you just have to use literally every last person on your contact list.  We were only able to meeting with our new investigators this week.  Our baptism for next week wasn’t home again.

Today started off really good but ended up super chafa. We had a member with a car and everything, but he drove us around for 2 hours to basically every single investigator contact, and less active and not one person was home.  Nobody.  Then he had to go so we stopped by a family that we hadn’t seen in church for a while and the dad was super drunk and kept asking us for forgiveness and crying because he knew that what he was doing was wrong. It was super sad and difficult to see.  They have so many problems and his wife is super sick.  They haven’t been able to pay their mortgage for 6 months and the husband’s solution is to drink his problems away which of course makes things worse.  It breaks my heart to see that sort of thing. Other than that, we gave them a blessing and went home.

Today was super cool   We went on divisions again.  Twice in one week!! It was a day of less active teaching.  We had lots of investigators planned, but as usual they all fell through.  We went with the elder’s quorum president and his son who is getting ready to go on a mission.  They are converts of about 4 years and they are awesome.  The weirdest par to about divisions is having to speak Spanish all day long.  Though we couldn’t find our I. again today.  We have tried like 4 times this week and she hasn’t been able to talk to us.

I ran out of time to finish writing last night because I was making some delicious pasta but that’s whatever. Yesterday was really cool.  President Rios had all the members of the Ward Council stay after sacrament meeting and he chewed them out hard for not having ward council in for who knows how long (as long as I have been here.)  Some back story, we ate with President Rios this past week and he talked to us about how he wants us to make a plan to start reactivating the less active members.  He gave us a list of names and how to help them and tildes to work with the ward council.  When we told him that there hasn’t been a ward council, he got a look in his eye and told us “Well it’s your fault for not telling me, we will have to fix that.”  So we are helping now that’s for sure.
